What the ticket gets you

The ticket is a reserved, timed entry to the Catacombs plus the individual audio guide. You show the voucher at the entrance on Place Denfert-Rochereau, take the audio guide and walk the route on your own. There is no live guide and no access to the sections closed to the public; for those you need a guided tour. Since the April 2026 reopening the audio narration is voiced as Louis-Étienne Héricart de Thury, the quarry inspector who arranged the bones, and the corridors carry projections and short films.

How entry works, and why slots sell out

Entry is by time slot, and the Catacombs cap how many people can be underground at once, so slots run out. On 27 October 2026 the next free slot on this listing was 10 November, two weeks out. Book as soon as your dates are fixed, and arrive a little before your slot: the queue at the entrance is for people who already hold a time.

The route underground

You go down a spiral staircase of 130 steps to about 20 metres below the street, follow roughly 1.5 km of galleries, first through the old limestone quarries and then into the ossuary behind the inscription that tells you the empire of death begins here. You come back up 112 steps and leave by a different door at 21 bis avenue René-Coty, about 700 metres from the entrance. The tunnels stay around 14 °C all year and can be damp underfoot.

Rules to know before you go

Luggage and large bags are not allowed and there is nowhere to leave them, so travel light. Bring a warm layer and shoes with grip. The listing points out there are no elevators and no lockers. The visit is unsuitable for anyone who cannot manage the stairs, and the narrow, low passages are hard going if you are claustrophobic.

Price against the official ticket

The official ticket office sells the same timed entry with the audio guide for €31, about $35, when a slot is free. This listing costs about $8 more. What you pay for is availability: resellers often still have slots after the official calendar shows sold out for your dates. If the official site has your time, buy there; if not, this is the cheapest reliable way in.
