Daily hours and last entry

Doors open at 9:45 am and the last visitors go down at 7:30 pm; the site closes at 8:30 pm. The visit takes about an hour, so a 7:30 pm slot still gives you the full route. The hours are the same every open day of the week.

Are the Paris Catacombs open now?

Yes. The Catacombs closed in November 2025 for the last stage of a renovation that began in 2023 and reopened on 8 April 2026 with a new route, new lighting and ventilation, and a new audio guide. They can still close at short notice during strikes; tour operators warn about this on their listings and contact booked guests when they can.

Booking a time slot

There is no walk-up entry for standard tickets: you book a timed slot online. The official office releases slots seven days ahead, while resellers and tour companies sell further out. On 27 October 2026 the next free reseller entry slot was 10 November, so the opening hours matter less than how early you book.

The best time of day to go

Underground the time of day changes nothing about the light or the temperature, which stays around 14 °C. What changes is the queue of slot holders at the entrance and how full the galleries feel, since only 200 people can be underground at once. Early slots and the last ones of the evening are worth trying for, and a weekday beats a weekend.

Monday and public holidays

Every Monday is closed, so plan your Paris days around it. The three fixed closures besides Mondays are 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. For any other public holiday, check your date when you book: the booking calendar only offers slots on days the Catacombs are open.
